Preservation and Digital Archiving

“Systemy Logistyczne Wojsk” / “Military Logistics Systems” (SLW) seeks to ensure long-term access to published scholarly content and to protect the integrity of the journal’s scholarly record.
This preservation and digital archiving policy describes how content published in SLW is safeguarded, in particular in the event of technical failure, platform migration, changes in IT infrastructure, temporary unavailability of the journal website, or discontinuation of the journal or its website.

Scope of Preservation
The following materials are subject to preservation:
• full texts of published articles;
• article metadata;
• DOI identifiers;
• bibliographic information;
• archived journal issues;
• supplementary materials, where published with the article;
• post-publication notices, including corrections, errata, corrigenda, addenda, editorial statements, expressions of concern and retractions.
This preservation policy applies to published scholarly content. It does not cover confidential editorial documentation, review reports, correspondence with authors and reviewers or personal data processed during the editorial procedure, which are governed by separate data protection and documentation retention rules.

Preservation Measures
Content published in SLW is safeguarded through:
1. maintaining full texts, article metadata and archived issues on the journal website;
2. maintaining technical copies of content and data in the Publisher’s resources or by entities supporting the journal’s IT infrastructure;
3. registering and maintaining article metadata and DOI identifiers;
4. making metadata and content available through external databases, repositories, digital libraries and indexing services, where such services provide this functionality;
5. taking steps to implement an external long-term digital preservation solution.

Technical Backup and Long-Term Digital Preservation
Technical backup is used to restore the operation of the journal website and journal resources in the event of system failure, technical error, data loss or service interruption.
Long-term digital preservation has a broader purpose: to ensure continued access to published scholarly content in the event of platform migration, infrastructure changes, discontinuation of the journal website or other circumstances that may limit access to publications.
SLW seeks to ensure that published articles are safeguarded both through technical copies and through solutions supporting the long-term availability of the scholarly record.

Access to Published Content
Full-text articles published in SLW are available on the journal website and in the “Archive” section.
In the event of temporary unavailability of the journal website, the Editorial Office and the Publisher will take steps to restore access to full texts, metadata and archived issues.
In the event of permanent discontinuation of the journal website, the Publisher will take steps to ensure continued access to published content through institutional resources, repositories, digital libraries, indexing databases or external long-term digital preservation services.

Retracted Articles and Post-Publication Notices
If an article is retracted or if a correction, erratum, corrigendum, addendum, editorial statement or expression of concern is published, the relevant notice should be permanently linked to the original article.
A retracted article remains available for archival purposes, with its status and the reason for retraction clearly indicated, in accordance with SLW’s publication ethics policy.

Metadata, DOI and Identifiability
SLW seeks to maintain the persistent identifiability of published articles through DOI identifiers, bibliographic metadata and current links to the version published on the journal website.
Article metadata should be maintained in a way that enables identification, citation, discovery, indexing and preservation of scholarly publications.

Responsibility
The Publisher is responsible for implementing this preservation and digital archiving policy in cooperation with the SLW Editorial Office and entities providing technical support for the journal website and systems.
The Editorial Office monitors the availability of published content and, within organisational and technical possibilities, takes steps to improve the security, durability and visibility of publications.

Related Policies
Rules on Open Access, copyright, licensing, self-archiving, corrections, retractions, research data and personal data protection are described on separate journal policy pages.
