Fees & Waivers

“Systemy Logistyczne Wojsk” / “Military Logistics Systems” (SLW) is an open-access scholarly journal. Full-text articles published in SLW are available free of charge to readers.
This page sets out the author charges related to manuscript submission, editorial processing and publication in SLW, as well as the rules for requesting a publication fee waiver.

Manuscript Submission Fee
SLW does not charge a manuscript submission fee.
Submission of a manuscript through the electronic editorial system is free of charge. Authors are not charged for initial editorial screening, formal checks or referral of the manuscript to peer review.

Publication Fee
For articles accepted for publication, a publication fee of 1,000 PLN is charged.
The fee applies to manuscripts submitted to SLW after 18 September 2023.
The publication fee is requested only after the peer review procedure has been completed and after the manuscript has been accepted for publication. The Editorial Office provides the corresponding author with detailed information concerning payment, invoicing and the payment deadline.
The publication fee does not influence initial editorial screening, reviewer selection, the peer review procedure or the decision to accept or reject a manuscript.
If the publication fee is not paid by the specified deadline and no waiver has been granted, the Editorial Office may suspend further production work on the article.

No Additional Charges
SLW does not charge:
• manuscript submission fees;
• initial editorial screening fees;
• peer review fees;
• rejection fees;
• colour charges for figures, charts or tables;
• page charges;
• charges for supplementary materials, where accepted by the Editorial Office;
• reader access fees.
If any additional charges are introduced in the future, they will be clearly stated on this page before they are applied.

Waivers and Discounts
The Editorial Office, in consultation with the Publisher, may consider a request for a partial or full waiver of the publication fee in justified cases.
A waiver request should be submitted as early as possible, preferably at the manuscript submission stage or immediately after receiving information that the article has been accepted for publication. The request should be submitted no later than before production work on the article begins.
A waiver request may be considered in particular in the following cases:
• lack of institutional or project funding for publication fees;
• the particular situation of the author or author team;
• authors from countries, institutions or communities with limited publication funding;
• the nature of the material, in particular invited papers, editorial materials, editorial notices, corrections, errata or other materials that are not standard scholarly articles;
• editorial or strategic cooperation agreed with the Publisher.
A waiver request does not influence the scholarly assessment of the manuscript and is not disclosed to reviewers.
The decision on a waiver or discount is made by the Editorial Office in consultation with the Publisher. This decision is administrative in nature and does not form part of the scholarly assessment of the article.

Withdrawal of a Manuscript
SLW does not charge authors for withdrawing a manuscript before it has been accepted for publication.
If authors withdraw an article after acceptance and after production work has begun, the Editorial Office may refuse to refund the publication fee if the Publisher has already incurred costs related to preparing the article for publication.

Scope of the Publication Fee
The publication fee applies to scholarly articles accepted for publication in SLW, in particular original research articles, review articles and case studies.
Editorial materials, editorial notices, corrections, errata, article retractions and reviewer acknowledgements are not subject to the publication fee.
For book or monograph reviews, thematic issues, special sections or invited materials, fee arrangements may be specified by the Editorial Office in a separate notice or in correspondence with the author.
