This paper presents the characteristics of relationships occurring between customers and suppliers with particular emphasis on partnership. Attention was paid to areas that affect the development of these relationships and the necessity of their continuous improvement. The article presents the results of a study based on the evaluations of rankings. General trend in the metal sector in the context of the need to improve the existing relationships was examined. Based on survey conducted among selected employees of the ten companies the main effects that bring companies to the mutual relationships with its partners have been identified.
